About PCYD

Who we are, why we exist, and what we are building in Putnam County.

Our Mission

The mission of the Putnam County Young Democrats is to build durable Democratic leadership in Putnam County through civic engagement, member training, voter outreach, and service within the local party structure.

PCYD exists to identify local talent, prepare members for responsibility, and create an organized pathway from first-time participation to sustained political and civic leadership.

Community Context

Putnam County faces persistent economic and infrastructure challenges that affect working families, students, and young adults across the county. According to current U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts data, Putnam County's median household income is $47,934 in 2024 dollars, and 20.7% of residents live below the poverty line. Broadband subscription levels remain below statewide expectations, with 85.7% of households reporting a broadband internet subscription.

PCYD is being formed in response to that local context. The organization is intended to give residents a practical entry point into civic life and Democratic organizing, while building a bench of members prepared to serve in precinct, committee, volunteer, and campaign roles.

Organizational Relationship

PCYD is being formed as a local youth Democratic organization in Putnam County with the intent to charter through the Florida Young Democrats and operate in alignment with the Florida Democratic Party. During the pre-charter period, PCYD is working cooperatively with the Putnam County Democratic Center and local Democratic leadership while developing its own membership, records, and officer structure.

PCYD is not yet chartered. All public materials reflect the current status: Forming; pre-charter as of April 2, 2026.

Membership

Florida Young Democrats publicly describes its chapters as serving Democrats and left-leaning residents ages 14 through 39. PCYD uses that public age range for recruitment and outreach unless and until a more specific rule is confirmed through charter paperwork or adopted bylaws.

Founding Member

A qualifying participant who signs the charter packet or other founding documents as required.

General Member

A participant within the youth eligibility range recognized by FYD public guidance and by local organizing rules adopted by PCYD.

Supporter

A person outside the youth eligibility range, or not yet eligible for a formal member vote, who supports events, outreach, or operations.

Formal voting rights, officer eligibility, and any membership classes adopted for charter purposes will be set by the founding meeting, charter requirements, and adopted bylaws.

Founding Officer Structure

The permanent officer structure will be finalized through the founding process and adopted governing documents. During the pre-charter period, the following founding roles are being filled first: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Additional operational roles may be appointed after the founding slate is seated, including outreach, operations, communications, and membership support positions.

Interim Chair: Ethan Bradley
